It’s nearly time for peony season, well sort of (late May), so I thought I would share with you this lovely peony and eucalyptus bouquet. Isn’t it pretty? Peonies epitomise the arrival of summer, but be quick, their season only lasts from 4 to 6 weeks.

Perfect: for a very feminine bride who wants a princess style wedding

Well, check this out! A lovely bride called Alexa Perrin, who happens to run The Experimental Food Society and who recently got married had this most amazing cake at her wedding. The design is by talented cake maker Rachel Mount.

That’s all for today, need to start commissioning for the next issue of YYW … a feature on cakes.

Dish caterers have just launched their Couture Canape Collection 2010. In the savoury collection, we love the look of the ‘Chilled pea soup with skewered black olives’ and doesn’t the pudding collection look scrumptious? It includes an assortment of brightly coloured mini macaroons, mini lemon meringue pies, fruity marshmallows with a chocolate dip and mini ice-cream cones with space-dust. Each canapé is a small masterpiece and some are adorned with edible gold and silver leaf to highlight the importance of the occasion. The Collection will give added wow factor to any reception and is perfect for drinking with Champagne.

Happy planning!

I couldn’t resist showing you these cute mini colourful chocolate eclairs, don’t they look yummy? … If you want them for your wedding, they normally come as part of a tea buffet, but you could buy them from £1.50 per head (2 or 3 eclairs per person) for a mix of flavours. Call Molly Ronan at Blue Strawberry for more details; they do great food for weddings including all organic menus.

Colourful eclair line

Trying to make up for not blogging for a couple of days … there’s so many pretty things to blog about. I love the contrast of these two colours together: chocolate and pale pink, it’s oh so pretty and feminine.

For my favourite chocolate cake makers, try:

Purita Hyam

Choccywoccydoodah

Zoe Clark

Maisie Fantaisie

Nicky Grant

Robineau

Happy wedding cake finding!

Chocolate cake with pale pink fresh roses

There’s a trend going on with vintage style suitcases to be used at your reception as decoration. Could they be the new bird cage? … Open, they can be part of your table plan display or three stacked on top of eachother can be great eye candy for a corner of your venue that you want to hide or jazz up a bit (pop a vase of flowers on top). To find yours, trawl your parents attic or your local antique’s fair. Good luck and happy planning!
